The Jackal Squadron's Tom Curda Award - 2008

Chris Bucholtz

This year's recipient of the Tom Curda Award goes to our own Jackal Type Zero, Chris Bucholtz. Why? Hey, any guy who wears a necktie to the IPMS Nationals is a shoo-in. Plus, Chris' long time commitment to promoting the hobby has caused him to wear a variety of hats – often several at the same time – making it hard to find a tie to match.

Chris is the guy that assembled a crack team and took the IPMS/USA Journal into the same league as the other print magazines, he's written a book on the Tuskegee Airmen, been an IPMS/USA Regional Coordinator for years, and was the Chairman of the 1998 IPMS/USA National Convention. Chris has even made an appearance on The History Channel's "Dogfights." Chris was the newsletter editor for the Silicon Valley Scale Modelers for 13 years and continues to be a major contributor. He has also served as the aviation editor of, and has been a frequent contributor to Internet Modeler for the better part of a decade.

Oh, yeah, he runs the sweat shop at Obscureco, too, making tiny resin cockpits for the masses.
